This workshop takes us into the world of hardware techno with local Moreland artist Nina Buchanan. No prior experience required, all equipment provided.
Melbourne’s Nina Buchanan operates at the precision nexus of brutalist techno and a truly uplifting style of ecstatic melodic synth riffage. Conjuring thick atmospheres and tonalities with almost blu-ray levels of vibrancy is perhaps in essence attributable to the simplicity of her chosen elements; 1 synth, 1 drum machine – the rest is purely incendiary sparks, resonating brightly in the spaces in between.
Buchanan has released two acclaimed EPs on diverse Melbourne electronic label Nice Music and has had varied work commissioned by Hobart’s heralded Dark Mofo and Mona Foma festivals. Her work offers a fissure in its techno paradigm, resonating well beyond the dancefloor.
